Poker Talk 101

Which poker rooms have you played in?

So I figured I would keep today's topic of discussion, a fun one. Poker rooms...I have played in my fair share of poker rooms. I have played poker in casinos, card rooms, home games, and even "underground" games. And by underground games I mean, illegal games. Not games played in a bunker or anything.

It's hard for me to pick a particular room that enjoyed the most, as most had their positive and negatives. So in no particular order, I will list all the rooms I have played in:

Memorable

Lucksacks Poker - @tuck-fheman 's pad. Easily the funnest poker game I have ever been a part of. We played 1/2 NLHE, and at times the competition was fierce. It was not uncommon for people to cash out over $500 bills on a single night.

My First Home Game - In TX - this was the first game I started playing on a regular basis, and it was also the place I met Tuck. The funniest thing that ever was a radio host who played in the game. This guy hosted a garden radio show and was pretty well known in the community. The funny part was, at the game he would get so smassshhhed on alcohol and play the worst poker ever. He also had a habit of dipping, and when he would get drunk, he would just spit that shit anywhere. The host was reluctant to ban him because of his community reach. If you were to listen to this guy on the radio, not in a million years would you think he would act that way at someone else's house.

TAJ Palace in Atlantic City - when I lived in NJ, I had to go to the TAJ. After all, it was the room they played at in the movie, Rounders. It was a massive room, spreading nearly every poker game you can think of.

Rio Las Vegas - host of the WSOP Main Event. Big ass room, getting old and smelly though. And the casino is so fucking massive, it takes forever to walk to the poker room.

The Orleans - Las Vegas - a giant warehouse for poker. Spread every game possible. Was frequented by old ass Vegas locals.

Borgata - Atlantic City - nicest poker room ever. Chairs, tables, tvs, everything was top notch.

Green Valley Ranch - Las Vegas - I lived in Vegas for a year, and this huge ass poker room was my second home. I knew every dealer and pit boss. Definitely my favorite casino poker room out there.

Circus Circus - Las Vegas - shitty ass, nasty ass, two table poker room. It literally smelled like dead people. Just awful.

Binion's Horseshoe - the birthplace of WSOP. This place was wall to wall history. As well as wall to wall musty odor.

Not So Memorable

Green Valley Ranch! How many years ago? I use to play there when I lived on that side of town. Now its Red Rock which is actually better in my opinion!

Im in a frat, and one year we took a long road trip across the west coast meeting brothers from other branches of our frat. On the way we visited San Luis Obispo, and there is a house there we stayed at.

They guys did it right, they bought a couple kegs and arranged a big poker tourney for our participation and enjoyment. I remember I bought in for $10.00, maybe $20.00, and there were as many buy-ins as you liked, and there must have been 20 players at two tables.

Well I ended up winning that night, and that was my first big win, I got about $600 USD I think. I remember being BLOWN away by that, the money was HUGE to me at the time.

Another big win occurred online at Pokerstars, and I was heads up, in a no-limit texas holdem game. I had pocket Kings, and I raised significantly pre-flop, only to be re-raised, and so I considered it just long enough to seem weak and went all-in. Then I won! That was a $2,000 USD single hand of poker.

I didnt sleep much that night! Way to excited. :)

some epic spots, P!

Home games are my jam and smaller tourneys at little hole in the wall casinos... there was the tournament at a place in Lake Stevens, Washington called Highway 9 and I ran that fucking tournament every Tuesday night for about six months, lol. Played The Grove up there, too, bunch of maniacs. Won a tournament there with 4 of a kind, that was fun. Here in California, there's the Bike and Commerce Casino, where I'm going to meet up with @virtualgrowth one of these days soon! Oh, and Harrah's in Laughlin, one of my most favorite places on the planet.

Guess I get around, too ... hmmm.

;)

not me, have fun :)

Casino Caribbean-Kirkland wa, muckleshoot-auburn wa, tulalip wa, hideaway-aurora wa

The closest rooms to me, been awhile since I played any of them, but decent local tourneys.

I would rather play in person than online, but it’s fun to have both available!

Thanks

I have played the hidaway and the drift and parkers and goldies, diamond lils plus the shoot and up at the tuly. Seattle poker is high level in my expirience.

Lots of good players in the rainy city & native lands to play! Forgot about Diamond Lils, played there 15 years ago. The hideaway has the best small tournaments imo, & lots of people like to step out & smoke weed during breaks which is great for poker

I just went to the Horseshoe in Omaha. Kinda old but nice old. I grew up with old and dingy places so Harveys (Lake Tahoe) is nice to me. haha

I've never played a live poker game, and have only been learning recently. when and if I feel I can play face to face poker there are many games in Panama. I'm good at reading people if i can make eye contact but don't know what kind of poker face I could put on. LOL
Thanks for setting up SPL I'm having lots of fun and maybe learning a bit too, Slowly.....
Seasons Greeting 🎄

I used to play a 25cent ante 4$ cap betting round home game in Shoreline WA, just outside Seattle. Mostly poker dealers and degenerate gamblers the main game was stud option 8 or better.
Same as stud 8 only you get to redraw 2 cards at the end for 5$ pot fee+ extra betting round
