THE LOST ACT

A stifled act in this noisy world,
Rubbished as naught fills every word,
Never an act rejected in pretence,
For every soul wants to pass another's judgement

Neglected value as if a farce,
Decay experiencing, yes, dying fast,
Chatterbox displayed, becomes enthroned,
Celebrated by those open mouthed prone.

To the hurting heart its value prize,
Moment to communicate care tongue tied,
Willing, open ear, speaking volumes,
Art of listening, be exhumed from tombs.

SUMMARY

In a poignant manner, the poem points out the neglect or outright rejection presently accorded by the art of listening now. Every one wants to speak and no one wants to listen and so everyone is gradually turning to a chatterbox, each person wants to prove his/her vanity by vaunting his talkativeness. Amidst all these are thousands around who are hurting and yearning for someone willing and caring enough to give an ear to pour their troubled hearts.
