Would that I were wrapped

In violets, sun-sweet– an eager

Spring spreading her skirt

Fervent adoration for rebirth

Instead clinging to a rusted

Lifeboat, capsized, northern

Star askew, ursa major’s

Compass crushed beneath

A jackboot of raw reality

Necks are snapping

Sword to spirit

Nothing left but numb
