POEM: NAMES

NAMES
Every face a facet
Of our gem
Every jewel a cut
From our hem

I imagined a field
With seats and rows
Under a tent
With pressed clothes

Where you have been tasked
To go beyond the flask
To what is woven in us

You must distill
Every force
Every installation
And grant each face
A name that resonates
With the name from creation

All the failures melt away
And the burns turn to new skin
All the blemishes and sifted days
Leave space to show them how to begin
