Without You
Laying in a fetal position I found solace in recalling all the joy and the hopes and dreams that we once shared
A kiss on the cheek, a stroke of my hair and your hearty laughter filling a room with delight and commanding a reciprocal expression
The aroma of a homemade meal summoning me to a table filled with the essence of love and a savory dish enjoyed over endless conversation
Happiness has no meaning without you, the center point of my mere existence…to love, protect and cherish through the perils of life and living
It is not nearly enough to say that someone leaves behind cherished loved ones, when the only one that I have ever loved leaves a void in my heart which refuses to beat without...
Unconditional love free of judgment, full of patience, kindness, a nurturing touch and words of affirmation
Without you, how do I face tomorrow’s woes while consumed with loneliness and the pressure to receive comfort from those who display a superficial love and empty platitudes?
Without you, how does the sun, moon and stars rise in the east and set in the western hemisphere of my heart?
Never will I forget a once-in-a-lifetime love and the beautiful memories that seek to comfort a feeble soul lost in a solar eclipse without YOU.

I was inspired to write a love poem after reading some of the beautiful poetry written by @onelovek, a poet new to the Steem community.
