ESSENCE OF LIFE
I was watching one of the TV stations I usually hate to watch moments ago and I saw them in an interview with a very handsome young man called Atura Jophus Oscar. He is a poet who loves to talk about life mostly through his poets. The host of the show made him say few poets but I felt in love with his poem entitled ESSENCE OF LIFE.
Such a lovely poem that made me wanted to hear all the time. Am sharing to all and hope you enjoy it too.
What is the essence of life?
Is it waking up with hope or despair?
Hope, to keep pursuing what
Despair, to what end
What is the essence of life?
Is it going to bed fulfilled or frustrated?
Fulfilled, for achieving what
Frustrated, for not been able to fulfill what
What is the essence of life?
Is it going through education?
For what? Knowledge, skills, wisdom, power
To compete with who and for what
What is the essence of life?
Is it been a success or failure?
Successful, under whose judgment
Failure, for not being able to do what
What is the essence of life?
Is it the routine hustle and bustle to make ends meet?
For what- food, shelter, clothing
Even if it is more, it is really worth dying or killing for?
What is the essence of life?
Is it the same aged religious story?
That our purpose on earth is to worship and praise God,
procreate and be caretakers of His creatures?
What is really, really the essence of life?
Begin, if you have not started searching
Ne’er stop, if you have started because I have not
You might ne’er find it, but is worth it
Do not take life so seriously, but ne’er take it for granted
Life is war; death is peace, yet human seek peace but prefer life
Since we prefer this war, let us battle to find its essence.
Life is wealth living, do you best to live a life that will keep you going in every situation you face. A life well lived is when the people around you feels happy to have you in their lives.
