Give it away in the beginning
How many artist, dead and gone
Would tell you their work was misunderstood?
That their best came early and nobody heard
That what made them, for them was pure nonsense
How many artists who flashed in the pan
Would come back and turn it all over
The end at the start, the start for the fame
How many of them would remake their good name?
Or would they realize their path was their own
What was waste to them was their stepping stone
How many can say "it had to happen this way"
I had to give it away in the beginning.
