Pitchperfect week 17: Galliarde

Greetings, fellow Steemians! I was first introduced to Renaissance dance music back in 2011 when I became involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism (part living history, part modern re-enactment). This was a fun little piece I encountered when I became interested in lute and early guitar music. A “Galliarde” is a very lively and vigorous dance, characterized by many leaps and hops.

Guillame Morlaye (1510-1558) was a French lute composer from Paris. He published many works of others’ as well as his own. This dance comes from his music book published between 1552 and 1553.

Enjoy! 💕
