The first visitors to the bird feeder this year
Winter is just around the corner, and we've already had a few days of sub-zero degrees here in Norway. It's probably not needed to be feeding the birds quite yet, but it's nice to get some bird visitors on my porch, so I have begun putting out some sunflower seeds already.
The first day of feeding didn't bring too many different species, but I got a decent shot of the great tit (Parus major) at the top, and a marsh tit (Poecile palustris) at the bottom. I was also visited by a Sitta europaea, but I didn't get a photo of him this time. But I did manage to get one last year, although that it was not the best photo I have taken.
If things are like last year, more species will gradually pop up as they notice the feeder, making the diversity pretty nice in a few months from now. Anyway, thanks for checking out my photos!

Brukar du fotoskjul for å koma nær fuglane, eller har du eit godt teleobjektiv?
Nebben på den siste fuglen som er fotografert, er stor og land. De kan bety at meisa på at det siste fotoet kan vera ei spettmeis.
I den siste posten min har eg teke foto av ein augnestikkar eller libelle.
Eg er usikker på kva art det er.
Kanskje du kan hjelpa til med å bestemma den?

Jeg har verken et godt fotoskjul eller objektiv (bruker standard 18-55mm objektiv), men bildet er tatt gjennom vinduet i stua, og fuglene har blitt godt vandt til oss, så de bryr seg ikke stort om jeg sitter på andre siden av glasset så lenge jeg sitter stille.
Og jeg er enig i at det trolig er en spettmeis ja.
Jeg er ikke noe flink på insekter, men jeg skal prøve å finne frem noen gamle notater fra da jeg tok zoologi som fag. Så kan jeg i alle fall gi det en sjanse :)

Framleis vil eg seia bileta har god kvalitet. For eksempel ser eg faktisk godt strukturen på fjæra på dei ulike fuglane.
Du må ikkje stressa med å bestemma desse augnestikkarane. Eg synest du er så flink i naturfag og biologi. Dersom du hadde kunnskapen parat, kunne du koma med eit tips.
These are sweet birdie shots :) The great tit is a very common bird to come to the feeder here in my country too. I love watching them feeding on the seeds :)
Thanks! It's very common here as well, but that's good, because it's a nice bird. Unfortunately a lot of them have been infected by the poxvirus this year, so we have a lot of diseased ones here now. I haven't seen this before, but it's pretty common this year..

Yeah, they really are. Luckily it's not that terrible of a virus; a lot of them will likely survive unless we get extreme cold soon.
Very nice shots! These birds are so lovely and precious! Would love to see a video of many birds at the feeder.
