Happy Spring!

Yesterday was the first day of Spring in the northern hemisphere. In the evening it began to snow - a prelude to the snow day to follow. But that's for another post. The following pictures were actually taken a few weeks ago. Nature brings the blooms when she sees fits; it's only ever loosely in alignment with the seasons. But the essence of Spring - the creeping of sprouts into the light, the bold opening of blooms in shameless display, and the stirrings of all things new, fresh, and alive - it is a season to remind us of miracles.

Here is my humble attempt to capture a hint of the spirit of living plants stretching their tendrils into the sun and shaking off the sleepiness of winter; enjoy!

I was lucky enough to catch this violet in the early stages of its unfurling - releasing the potential energy of the tightly bound spiral of petals into the kinetic display of color and vibrancy!

Even the indoor peace lily knows that Spring is nigh:
