The Latvian Academy of Sciences, a Unique Learning Institute!

in #photography5 years ago

Good night!

3 days ago I posted about the Central Market of Riga. In two of the photos from that article, you could see a huge building in the background. That building is the Latvian Academy of Sciences and it's one of those landmarks very useful for tourists, since it's visible from a great distance.

No GPS? No worries! Whenever you feel like you are getting lost, while visiting Riga... just look around and search for this tower.

The building architecture is very interesting and unique... It could easily be mistaken for a church. Just take a good look at the front of the building!

Impressive, isn't it?

There's an observation deck at the top, which I haven't visited. Unfortunately, it was closed due to a holiday season. It was the end of June and - just like we Portuguese - the Latvians and Lithuanians were enjoying the St. John Day. I had a wonderful time there... so missing out on the observation deck didn't bother me a bit! 🙃

The surrounding area was a residential zone and, other than the nearby market, there's not much to do around here. No restaurants, no cafés, only a few public parks to relax and enjoy the views.

These students have a real cool place to study, in my opinion. I wonder if that plays a factor in their learning curve....?

What do you think, are students more or less motivated to take a course in a cool building like this? Or do you think it's irrelevant?

Hmm it would work for the students who appreciated that kind of thing, but the average kid...NOPe, they wouldn't even see the beauty in it " This old ass building ughh" LOL

It is a great looking tower indeed though. That is the main thing I am gonna take pics of when I travel around Europe, the buildings:)

Gladly, this building is not for children. This is an institute where the most important scientists of Latvia conduct their researches.

Ah didn't catch that part. LOL the scientist must love it then.

First of all I must say you are so lucky.. Why?? Because you have visited many beautiful places and gathered lots of memories and experience... Well, this is really interesting building... I would say giant high rise...Definitely I would love to study there...University of Science , I can relate that time.... :D

Lucky...? Maybe. Others call it "being single." Uahahhahahaha! 😅
Thanks for your comment, @priyanarc!

That's a beautiful architectural building.
And loved the point, No GPS, no worries, look at the tower and find your way 👌😊

That was a habit for me. I kept searching for that tower and after I saw it, I was no longer lost!

It works like a beacon! So no one gets lost.

Exactly. Who needs maps, when there are towers?

Impressive. I think you are right when it comes to looking like a church. Still, a majestic building. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot for your visit and comment! I'm glad you liked it!

Nice building
I think kids now a days are more into parties then studies. Some not all hahaha

I don't think these students were kids, @wolfhart. After all, they are Latvia's most important scientists! 😊

Hahaha
If there in there 20’s there kids to me.
We don’t realize how important education is until later. At least I didn’t.
I studied hard and played even harder.
