Black-tailed deer
Black-tailed deer are a subspecies of mule deer that live in the Pacific Northwest. Their range extends south along most of the California coast. This is one of the bigger bucks in the group of deer we regularly watch.
The chase. Its that time of year. Hot pursuit. Breeding time. This doe was not interested in his advances. It was amusing watching them running around.

These are the two big bucks that we see around here. If you look closely, the second set of photos is a different deer. Bigger antlers. He is bigger than the one in the portrait shot.

They are truly adorable creatures!
I don't know a lot about deer but these seem to be getting more white on their muzzle. It makes for a really cute face.

Those deer look to be a good size.
These are some of the bigger ones. There are a lot of fawns and younger males around too.
It is really amazing watching animals run around in their natural habitat. I wish every animal had this opportunity to be in the wild.
