📸 Underwater Dreams 2 Photography Project - Part 2 (My Original Photos)

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Here is the next set of underwater photos from my Underwater Dreams 2 project. This project continued to explore materials and textures, color, surface reflections, and the human form to capture some really amazing photographs underwater.

As I mentioned in my previous underwater photography posts, I use a Fuji XP80 sport camera. With proper lighting (Sun) and calm, clear water, this camera does a great job providing me the base photos to work from and create the final images.

These photos were taken during moments when clouds momentarily covered the Sun. This gives a softer feel with blended background colors.

Holding positions underwater is not easy and takes a bit of trial and error to find poses that create an interesting reflection in the water's surface above the model. As always, the models must be given proper credit for their efforts, grace, and patience. There were a lot of practice photos taken in the beginning as they got comfortable with how their bodies and the fabrics move under water.

The next image shows the difference in the effect of direct full Sunlight into the pool versus cloudy conditions. This was taken on the same day, in the same pool, with the same model. The only difference is the Sun, or lack of it. By waiting for a passing cloud I was able to capture a completely different feel/mood in the pictures.

I love how the passing clouds make the water look more natural than the concrete pool that's highlighted by ripple reflections

Yep, it's really cool how they can look so different. I also like the softer look of the indirect light, it gives a peaceful feeling of the model floating in the space without screaming "it's underwater". :-)

Great concept!
Though i'm guessing that the images are not sharp due to the water qulity..?
I find the 3rd pic (without fabric) the most interesting due to the sun's changing shapes.

Yes, the water clarity plays a big roll in it. It is also a "point and shoot" camera, not a full pro camera I use for this.

These are absolutely beautiful , job well done

Thank you Krista. :-)

so cool, I would love to try that but I'm not good at swimming

Thank you :-) well you'd be safe... the water was not too deep in this pool, they could stand up and still have their heads above water.

Never thought a cloud could create such a beautiful difference in the photo! Amazing photos!

Both images are cool, but the second one down is the best! You do amazing work! ! !

Thank you. I'm happy you like my work.
