Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

in #photography6 years ago

Commonly known as Siagon, Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vietnam. Everyone uses motorcycles/scooters to get around and it is common to see a family of 4-5 on a motorcycle at one time.

This is part of the massive Chu Chi Tunnels which were used during the war. You would never know someone was under the leaves.

Of course, we had to bring back souvenirs of our trip...we had these lions carved for us.

I must have taken 20 shots of this bottle in variable light. I can't figure out why it photographed so poorly. THIS, creepy yet cool bottle is rice wine with a dash of cobra and a scorpion in its mouth. I'm still surprised that we managed to get this back in our luggage. I had envisioned the bottle breaking en route.

Wow! Usually people buy souvenirs that fit in their suitcase :P
And don't tell me you drank of that wine...

Ha, no way...couldn't make me drink that wine! Definitely makes for a great conversation piece, lol. We still are not certain, but from what we could understand, the local men drink it for a "viagra" wannabe effect.

The photo that you are with the lions carved is very beautiful !!!

That bottle is cool with a dash of creepy! I think I'd prefer my rice wine critter-free, but it certainly makes for an interesting display piece!

Speaking of which, are those lions carved stone? That's some nice work, there! Where will you put them?

Love the scooter guy photo, too. I wonder how top-heavy that thing is? When I lived in Spain, I'd occasionally se a family of four riding a moped. It looks so incredibly dangerous...

Ha, well said, "cool with a dash of creepy!"
The Lions are solid marble, and they were meant for some concrete posts in our yard, but they were supposed to be a greyish marble to go with the concrete. Tsk, tsk, I'm sure I'll get used to it :)
Lol, I agree with you on the family riding a moped, but it always looks fun!

I am Vietnamese, I live in Sai Gon (not SiaGon as your upper section wrote). Previously, this place was called Saigon, today it is called Ho Chi Minh City. Very welcome you to visit us.
