Where Eagles Fly : Tuckerville Colorado ~ Mountain High Ghost Town
This is the high mountain site of an old mining town called Tuckerville, Colorado. With the snow covering the mountain sides you can clearly see the old roads on the lower right side of this image. These roads once had tents on both sides and in that clear somewhat flat area there used to be 6 large bunkhouses, a workshop, and a mess hall. All the old buildings have been lost to the elements but this was all in full operation for 9 years from from 1920 to 1929.
Now it is nothing but an empty mountain top in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan Mountain Range in the high Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Thanks so much!! I really appreciate both of your support for the project. Yes, can you imagine what it must have been like up there in the cold of winter?! The lure of digging riches out of the mountain was very strong and people went thru a lot of misery and suffering to try and strike it rich.

I watched your movie, you are a real pilot with a steep beard, but why are you without a helmet? I envy you, because you can see such beauty.
How are you not afraid to fly on such a small airplane?
LOL !!!!!!!!! I love it.... a steep beard!! yes indeed. I fly without a helmet because it would be too heavy on my head for long duration flights. And as much as I move my head around it would be very uncomfortable. If you notice in the film, look around my cockpit (inside of the airplane) and you will see that all the crossbars are covered with padded wrapping. And much like inside a racecar, this is the same type of padding which will help protect me if my head hits it. During really violent winds I can get thrown around a lot!
I think it does not scare me because I was raised flying small airplanes and have been doing it all my life so to me it is a very natural thing to do. I am more comfortable in the air than on the ground!
Many pilots say that they feel more comfortable in the air. My husband's grandfather was a pilot...
Is it true that your aircraft can be landed, even if there are problems with the engine? And one more question: do you have a parachute during the flight?
Yes they can be landed even if the engine fails. My bushplane has an 11 to 1 glide ration, meaning that for every 1,000 ft I am in the air I can glide 11,000 feet, or a little over 2 miles. So if I am 3,000 feet above ground then I have a 6 mile radius to find somewhere flat LOL! No I don't have a parachute when I fly. They are very uncomfortable to fly with.
Thus, you can fly without an engine in absolute silence. It's amazing. What do you feel during this flight?
