Where Eagles Fly : Fox Mountain ~ Flying Among the Snow Covered Mountains of Colorado

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

In the foreground lies Fox Mountain and behind that, the ridge in the middle of the image, running horizontally across the photograph is Heart Mountain... and then behind those all the way to the horizon are numerous mountains of both the Weminuche Wilderness and Rio Grande Wilderness areas of the Colorado Rocky Mountains along the Continental Divide. This is all part of the vast San Juan Wilderness area in the San Juan Mountains.

I lensed this image while flying from Cortez, Colorado to visit my friends at Zapata Ranch in the San Luis Valley. Taken at an altitude of 14,500 feet and shot free-hand through an open window This image shows the cold vastness of the high Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

This image is from my project "Where Eagles Fly";

About The Project

Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us. I am piloting a bush plane while exploring and filming throughout the remote back-country areas of North America to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.

spectacular photos, and very nice aerial view

Okay...I don't know anything about piloting a plane but I would totally feint If I see a pilot take his hands off the steering wheel(I'm sorry I have no idea what the controllers are called 😅). Anyway, amazing! I probably won't see any of this personally anytime soon so I appreciate the project so much! Keep doing awesome things and be safe 🤗

LOL! No the airplane is inherently stable ... this particular airplane (I call it the "Bluebird") is designed to be very stable. I can fly for hours with very little input on the controls. I am glad to have you joining my blog! Hope I can continue to post stuff you dig!

Certainly a fitting name! Oh God, hours?! I can't even handle a 30 minute flight without without sweating profusely. Ty 😊 keep rocking good sir!

what an amazing experience sir

Beautiful, you are a lucky guy to be able to travel to and take pictures of these wonderful places.

Thanks... I agree that I am very lucky!!! But hard work and persistence is what has allowed me to be able to do this work as I do.... many times the path forked, but I kept moving along the road I am meant to travel!

Awesome Post Right There! The video was OUTSTANDING .

Hey, my friend, thanks so much for visiting my Summer Camp 1968 post! I appreciate the upvote.
I make my living as a pilot too, just not up so high and glorious as you!
I'm a Forestry Aircraft Pilot and it gets pretty boring at times! I resteemed this for my friends.

Carry ON!

Hey bud, hit me up on steemit chat if you would please. Thanks for the kind words, I want to speak to you about what we are doing.. may be a crossover somewhere there.

Sure, I'm BeakerSt over there!

That’s one hell of a shot, @skypilot! :)

Thanks Daniela!!! That place is well worth the visit if you ever can.

I was just referred to your blog by @danielapetk. She said you do amazing work. I agree! Your video was well-done and captured some spectacular images and video. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
