Sovereign Hill Souvenirs

The fun at Sovereign Hill in Victoria really doesn’t stop throughout the entire experience. The various guided tours throughout the mines were very insightful and gave much context around the circumstances that lead the great development of this area. I very much enjoyed seeing the melting and moulding of a golden bullion bar. These are things that I have seen in pictures and videos but never in front of my eyes. It was an exciting sight to behold and it really made the trip down to Sovereign Hill worth it.

There are a few mines to explore around this area and the tram can actually transport visitors pretty easily between sites. The area is pretty big so those wishing to avoid the longer walking distances may benefit greatly from this service. I found the attraction that explored the historic disaster of a mine collapse very interesting. Mine collapses are something I had heard very much about and the tour gave an in depth explanation into what contributed to the tragedy and its severe consequences. The people that went out to work in mines were putting their lives on the line for a livelihood.
