What in the world is this car? They were given a special space this year at the German Auto Club annual vintage car rally in Bavaria. When I first approached them I assumed it must be some kind of a kit car on a VW Beetle. I wish I had asked someone, but after I photographed the interior and recognized it was a Fiat I moved on. If anyone happens to know more, please share.

Fiat Spring

Was um Himmelswillen ist dieses Auto? Wie man sieht, erhielten sie in diesem Jahr bei der jährlichen Oldtimer-Rallye des Deutschen Auto Clubs in Bayern einen besonderen Platz. Als ich auf sie zukam, nahm ich an, dass es sich um einem VW Käfer / Kit-Wagen handeln müsste. Schade, dass ich niemand danach gefragt habe, aber nachdem ich den Innenraum fotografiert und erkannt hatte, dass es sich um einen Fiat handelt, ging ich einfach weiter. Alpine

This bad ass little sports car is beautiful and unusual. This particular oldtimer rally here in Bavaria is a three day affair. On one of the days they drive a route that takes them on the back roads of our region, so I actually had a chance to see and hear one of these Alpine cars – what a cool little car, and what a sound it's engine had! They were produced by a company called Société des Automobiles Alpine SAS and they used an engine from Renault. Other than that, I don't know much about them, except that they were successful in auto racing -- for example, in 1971 at the Monte Carlo rally, Alpines finished first and second.

Dieser kleine Teufel ist schön und ungewöhnlich. Diese Oldtimer-Rallye hier in Bayern ist eine dreitägige Angelegenheit. An einem der Tage fahren sie eine Route, die sie auf die Nebenstraßen unserer Region führt, so dass ich tatsächlich einen sehen und hören konnte - was für ein cooles kleines Auto und was für ein Motorsound! Sie wurden von einer Firma namens Société des Automobiles Alpine SAS hergestellt und verwendeten einen Motor von Renault. Ansonsten weiß ich nicht viel über sie, außer dass sie im Autorennsport erfolgreich waren - zum Beispiel 1971 bei der Rallye Monte Carlo, Alpines wurde Erster und Zweiter.

Morgan is a handmade British sports cars. The company dates back 1910, it has a small workforce and a long waiting list for anyone who wants to buy a car. Depending on the car and the time period Morgans have engines from a number of sources, such as Rover, BMW, Ford, and Fiat.
