Celebrating the 7th edition of the International Forest Day, counting the loss and way forward.

The forest is one of those ecosystems that has suffered severely do to our continuous indiscriminate activities such as bush fires, deforestation, logging, etc. It serves as a community to wildlife and other plant species. We rely on it for shelter, food, water, medicine, wood, and as such it equally serves as the laboratory for Oxygen production.

The International Day of Forests was established on the 21st day of March, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on November 28, 2012 and each year, various events are celebrate and awareness raised concerning the importance of all types of forests, and trees outside forests, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Countries are encouraged to undertake efforts to organize local, national, and international activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns, on International Day of Forests.source

Although this campaign is this on-going in various countries especially in developing ones for example, the various forests keeps disappearing at a rate faster than it is been replaced and in some cases, they are not even been replaced.
Forests play a vital role in the utilization of Carbon dioxide which is one of the green house gases found in the atmosphere, thereby contributing in reducing global temperatures in the atmosphere.

The effects of our activities such as deforestation are evident as there has been increase in global temperatures, rising sea levels, droughts etc.
It is therefore time for action to rescue of ever green natural forests through conservation, tree planting , reafforestation, establishment of new forests etc.
Nature really is wonderful and thus do care for us because our abusive use of this beautiful resource would have long contributed in forcing us to maybe extinction as they often get replenished all by themselves. As such through continuous education, sensitization every person should always know that tree planting exercise is consequently an endeavor we should undertake.

Abandoned areas can be improved upon such drought areas for food production so as avoid the search for new areas for that purpose and we can do it thus serving our forests and contributing in providing quality air through them.
Therefore we need to know always that planting a tree, implies planting hope so let us join hands to plant this hope that is greatly needed by all.
