What happened to the Meerkat's tail?

We saw two of them with no tails!
Meerkats use their long tails for balance when they stand upright and this poor little guy will never be able to stand up,
They also use the tip of their tail whenever they encounter a snake, as they wiggle the tip of their tail in front of the snake and as soon as the snake strike at the tip, the meerkats then bite the snake behind his head to kill him for a nice lunch.
This guy can also never hunt snakes.

Meerkat predators are Wild dogs, Hyenas and Jackals. These two guys certainly had narrow escapes and lost their tails in the process! Or it could also be that a snake's venom necessitated the lost tails.

Have a look at the back end, no tail!

And what have we here?
Ever seen a wild African Hare?

Beautiful isn't he? And he doesn't know where I am, but he suspects something!

Having seen nothing, he decided to do some grooming.

Look how cute this is?

The African Hare's biggest enemy is man, as they have been hunted for centuries. many communities live on hare and monkey meat and yet these animals survive. I read an article recently about the Ebola virus outbreak and it is thought that wild fruit bats are the carriers. The health authorities wanted to warn the people not to eat wild bush meat, but they refused by stating that they eat monkey meat since they were small.

The habitat of these animals are also gradually being destroyed through man's agriculture needs, as newly ploughed lands require the removal of all trees, bushes and shrubs. Furthermore rivers are being dammed to provide agricultural spraying systems and this results in the regular flow below the dam turning into a trickle of water.
The lost habitat is a severe threat to wild animal existence, resulting in many being placed on a danger of extinction list.
One wonders what our children will see in the future.
Think about it!

Rabbit looks as if he suspects you of being a Bunny Butcher!

Naw! I think he knew that I was a camera butcher as he relaxed! Most men are butchers of some kind or another Lol Thank you for the kind support!

Looking just like a hunter

Who? Me or him?

Daylight photography of the hare is lucky, I have only ever seen them move at dawn and dusk. With those big ears, slightest movement and they bolt off, you captured some delightful shots here @papilloncharity

Human's are causing a massive imbalance in nature, we returned from leave to learn a new troop of vervet monkeys have moved into our area.

No leopards or cheetah in town to keep the numbers at bay, the troop is about 20 in size with many young. This young troop is exceptionally destructive, with young males being extremely threatening.

We have created this; harming them is not an option in my life, however one has to protect/guard your kitchen, they will enter homes causing destruction. Fruit, trees, birds nests have been raided, sadly they rip up everything in their wake leaving half eaten fruit laying around, birds nests ripped from trees, yes it is a problem.

A funny true story! Marian's dad is a retired geologist and they often worked in mountainous areas! One day at a place near Glencairn a baboon stormed into their house! The funniest thing is that her dad got such a fright that he jumped to hide behind her mom. Her mom, being a very logical person, counseled the baboon so well that he left the house. Yes, monkeys come with severe problems and they frequently ripped our site caravans apart until we bought some rubber snakes and left them in the windows! Man has invaded their territories and they are not the most tidiest of beings. I have read somewhere that someone has developed an electronic signal distributor that scare the monkeys away. It might have been in the "Farmer's Weekly" All strength with your kitchen guarding duties! @joanstewart
