Weather surprises in the apple valley!

He said it's a sign of rain!

I was out with the camera this morning and the farm manager noticed that I was taking sky shots. He came up to me to tell me that the thin cloud surrounding the moon was a sign of rain. What? Clear skies and the sun had just risen and this guy's telling me that it is going to rain. Well, soon a fierce wind arrived and you will see the rest in this post.
Join me in this new discovery!

Of course the strong wind brought some cloud along!

Look how the wind ripped the clouds!

They say this is normal before the rains, but for me it was unusual, as it is now my fourth time to see a rainbow after our arrival here. And every time just before rain set in!

Soon things started getting serious, with the wind howling through the trees!

And there you have it! A soft and steady rain pelted me driven by the wind, dropping temperatures down to below 10 degrees Celsius! All of this at 15.00hrs.

Of course there were others to think about. Lady Marian and our little dog "Troy". He is small and he struggles with the weather, but he refuses to wear a jersey of any kind. Put anything, even a collar on him and he sits in his house for the whole day, until we take it off. So I rushed home to make a fire!

And finally, a great good night to all steemians!

Winter is supposed to taper off during the month of August, at least on the Highveld where we come from, but here in the apple valley I am told that we can expect even snow in the mountains during September, which is the official start of Spring elsewhere in the country. Some trees have started to bud and even blossom here now and it seems that they like the cold!

We will have to visit a few second-hand clothing shops here to prepare to dress like Eskimos next winter and it's a good thing that we landed here during winter, as it will prepare us for the next one. Sort of like being thrown into the deep end of a pool in order to learn how to swim. But, like always we shall persevere and our habit of listening to the locals has and will continue to have a great influence, not only on our lifestyle, but also in the charity work that we do.

That lovely fireplace is going to be put to good use this coming weekend I think. Snow predicted for your area.

@gholsa I am told that now during the resting period of the apple trees, the colder that it gets, the better would the colours of their fruit be at harvest and that apple trees love snow. The trouble here is to find dry wood for the fire and coal is too expensive for us!

Double rainbow and a log fire what a day to be had down in the valley.

Thank you Lady Joan and it was indeed a good day. Everything is new, but also old, as my life was also started on a farm many years ago. Almost like full circle! Blessings! @joanstewart
