Just another sunset - But I Like It!

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

There's something magical about sunsets and rainbows

that makes one want to press a cosmic pause button and quickly look around for a hidden doorway, somewhere just out of sight, to another world.

I have very seldom had a camera with me

(at least in the past, before I got my first smart phone a couple of years ago). Consequently I have missed capturing some of the most magnificently stirring sights of my life. Triple rainbows around Flagstaff, Arizona (something I saw three times there, but never anywhere else in the world). The absolutely panoramic light shows of Moroccan sunsets - we would climb onto the roof of our Marrakesh hotel, night after night, drumming and watching in stunned awe.

This sunset in Switzerland,

more subtle then many others I have seen, happened when I had a camera with me. What joy!

Don't ask me what the orbs are - 'cause I don't know :-)

Have you ever seen anything that you would have given your left something or other to have had a camera with you at the time?

Sort:

They almost look like paintings. The orbs are an added bonus. I often think there are more things going on than our eyes see :)

Thanks for sharing.

Most wonderful, you have a eye for beauty!

Well, thanks :-)
And I wasn't even wearing my glasses!

Still trying to know, just where you are. I miss your

Where am I?

Still wonder exactly where you are? But I know you support steemit and that's awesome. I want to move to the West Koots in the next couple years. I think we could be friends, but for now I just endlessly hoping for a better social system.

Isn't steemit a better social system (or at least headed that way)?

Wow...Nice!

To answer your question, there are way too many instances where I wish I would have ha a camera to try just one shot, just one shot... Thanks for the sharing of story and photography too. Namaste :)

It's just a shot away, just a shot away, shot away, shot away........................

It seems that you were there in the right moment! This is really cool sunset!

Since I've been on steemit I realize that there are many "right" moments almost every day. Sometimes of a sunset, but other times of clouds, or trees, or birds, or unusual architecture, or interesting people, or a lonely empty landscape, or, or, or. I think that maybe we just need to slow down and keep our eyes open for them. And then stop and click!

That's so true! Nicely said, I like that.

Cool! You might be able to pull some of the clouds out a bit more in Lightroom even if it was taken with a mobile phone as a Jpeg - I was actually surprised myself when I was forced to do it recently:)

Nice photos! I assume half the pic (darkness) that fills the bottom half of the pics are actually hills?

Have you ever seen anything that you would have given your left something or other to have had a camera with you at the time?

There was once in Melbourne city. A great view on one of the city bridges overlooking the river, casino etc. I didn't have a camera at that time so I asked some stranger to take a photo.. and left my email with them lol :)

Here's a daytime shot from the same location:

Nice view! - so you're on the hills :). I'd like to experience switzerland someday. From what i read, the many different "regions" over there are rather different and not very homogenised!

Maybe, if I find the time, I'll do a post of all photos of Suisse (I'm still trying to find time to do the story of my tatoo lol).

Nice! I'll wait for that post..

Looking at those stunning images, I do miss my sunsets&rises, fullmoons in Bali but for now the European winter is also quite interesting.

Pop over to Marrakesh and check out the sunsets there!

Is this where you live ? I thought you are in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Or actually I thought you are in Canada 😼

I do live in Canada (for now). The photos were taken in Switzerland. And Marrakesh is where I have seen the "numero uno" most spectacular sunsets in the known universe, but didn't have a camera.

We are true butterflies 🦋 enjoying the world ! I need to post some sunsets I caught in Asia as well ....soon ! Nite Nite !

smartphone had indeed touch our lives in more ways than one and not always bad. This is an example of it and like what I always like to do:take pictures of anything interesting I saw.

Yes, I have almost never used my smartphone as a "phone" for making calls. But I use it extensively for photos and connection to the internet.

hey, me too but I used it my calendar too.
unfortunately, recently I had to make a lot calls to the banks to cancel my cards.

You should carry you camera with you!
