Little Monsters S2 Part 7 - Redback Spider セアカゴケグモ

One of the scary looking spiders often featured in movies and nightmares.

The Redback Spider has, unfortunately, established a population in parts of Japan, including Osaka, likely they caught a ride on some ship. In any case, they're here now, so let's take some photos!
残念ながらセアカゴケグモは日本に住み着いているところがあります、大坂はその中の一つ。おそらく船で乗って来てしまった。
まあ、いるから写真を撮りましょう！

Above, the red stripe that gives this spider its name is visible, is quite easy to recognise this spider!
上の写真で名前通りの背中の赤いストライプがはっきり見えます！これを見たら間違いないセアカゴケグモです。

Redbacks have a fearsome reputation and though they have a very painful bite the effects of which can last for days, they are not considered life threatening to humans. It is still a very bad idea to get bitten! If you are bitten, do go to a hospital.
怖い印象があるだが噛まれたら死に終わりではない、確かに痛いで何日もう痛いと書いてる人間を殺すケースはなかなかない。正しい噛まれたらすぐ病院に行ってください!

If the back isn't visible, often it is not as the spider likes to hang upside in its web waiting for pretty to become ensnared, it can be mistaken for the related Black Widow spider as the markings on the ventral side of the abdomen are quite similar.
背中が見えなかったら仲間のブラックウイドークモに似ってるお腹のマークはほぼ一緒です。

Ants seemed to be a favorite of the local Redbacks with many dried out husks strewn about the webs.
Below a young redback spider has envenomed and wrapped up an unlucky spider.
近所のクモはよくアリを捕まえた。
下は若いメスが別のクモを捕りました。

Originally from a desert environment, Redback Spiders prefer dry sheltered areas to build their webs.
もっとは砂漠からのクモから乾燥してくらい穴のような場所で巣を作ります。

Closer? Of course!
もっと近い？いいよ！
