ECCO - Radiographic plate developing and feature identificationsteemCreated with Sketch.

ECCO fuel and ash samples were placed on large format film cartridges loaded with 400ASA plates for around 2 weeks.

Extracting the negatives from the cartridges

All of the best laid plans to label everything went out of the window when it came to actually removing the negatives. Listen to the recording of the process. Essentially, you can't see a thing!

So did we see anything?

Well, at first glance, no - however, there was one interesting feature each on two of the negatives. These were both around 4 by 3mm and were scanned at high resolution, these are presented here

Conclusion

Roman Franc, who really does do traditional wet film for a living, said he had not seen features like this before, he said that light creep would show up as a block at the top rather than what we see here. Does that mean we are seeing Mushingons/Tachyons or 'Charge Clusters' or something else? Not very conclusive.

The second set of features were a little less obvious as they were more hidden in the noise - however, they do look more similar to those seen in previous research and referred to as 'strange radiation'.

Perhaps if some of the material was placed in the darkroom, directly on top of the negatives, rather than having to pass through several layers of plastic and then a further 1mm of plastic, we would see something more convincing.

What do you think?

Please download the raw data and play around with it, are there any similar images in the literature? What do you think could explain these features?
