VMworld's Loading Dock
I attended VMware's annual conference last week, which was held at the Mandalay Bay convention center in Las Vegas. I had an unusual experience on my last day; the shuttle bus to my hotel took the long way around the convention center so I was treated to a view of its loading dock!
It was amusing to me to see all the familiar logos from the show floor, here stamped on random crates waiting to pack everything up. Unfortunately, cell-phone photos from the back of the moving bus didn't produce great results.
Commvault, IBM, Blue Medora, and ScienceLogic:
The Netapp logo is recognizable in this one even with the blur:
Infinidat is visible here, and there are some Samsung boxes for large-screen monitors hidden in the mess:
Code42 (from my home in Minnesota!) and Nutanix:
Nutanix again, plus Mellanox and a better view of the loading dock itself:
The inner workings of conferences is actually pretty interesting. I once had back-to-back conferences at the same hotel. It was pretty surreal to watch the hotel host almost identical meetings for two different sets of attendees. They even had the same piano bar musician on the second night.
