It was a big week for phone announcements. Xiaomi took the wraps off the Mi Max 3 after a few weeks of intense teasing and it's pretty exciting - near-7-inch screen and 5,500mAh battery!

In other Xiaomi news, the Mi A2 Lite went on sale prematurely. It's still unofficial at this point, but that will change next week.

Nokia made the X5 official in China and started the global rollout of the Nokia X6 under the name Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Xiaomi will finally start selling its Mi 8 Explorer edition on July 24 but before you get too excited, it's a China-only offer for now.

Huawei announced the nova 3i in the Philippines, while Corning introduced Gorilla Glass 6 with a promise of a higher resistance to drops.

The OnePlus 6 finally made its way to DxOMark's labs and came away with a good score of 96 - toppling some major competitors.

HTC made its exit from the Indian market - a move that could be yet another nail in the maker's coffin.

And in the final noteworthy story of the week Google was fined €4.3b by the EU's Competition Commission and CEO Sundar Pichai penned a letter to warn that the decision could change the way Google offers Android to phone makers
