Travel with @hotsteam to the beautiful Raphia palm forest!
Good day guys
Today I want to take you on a tour into a magical forest called Raphia palm forest . The Raphia palm forest is located in Mtunzini, South Africa.
The forest of the Raphia palms has its origins in seeds planted in 1916 by the local magistrate CC Foxon after he received the seeds from the government. The government wanted to use the fibres of the palms to make brooms.
- They can reach up to a height of 25 meters.
- Their leaves are also very long and can reach a length of 15 meters.
- After 20 years a towering brown inflorescence emerges about 3 meters above the crown leaf.
- Fruit take 2 years to mature.
- It can produce up to 10000 fruit that can weigh up 500kg
- The tree dies after 25 years.
Walking in a forest is so relaxing and while you walking there I think just for a while you can forget about all your problems.
In 1942 the Raphia palm forest was proclaimed a national monument
This forest is really worth a visit and what an awesome experience it was!
