My second-Cousin Erle is a good friend and a great Photographer! Check out the photos from her current Exhibition!
Last week Erle M. Kyllingmark opened her exhibition "In The Dark It Shines Through" in Oslo.
She has developed her work on layered photography and has used two old analog cameras from the 1940s and 50s. Each image consists of three exposures taken after each other - three different motifs are melted on the negative film before it is pulled forward. Once an exposure is taken, it's the memory of this one that meets the next exposure. There is no visual control of how the three subjects work together along the way. This gives Erle a mix of control and lack of control in the working process. The result only becomes visible when the film is developed.

Hei, dette var noe helt spesielt! Satt faktisk å lekte meg med kameraet gjennom et vindu i går for å få med speilbilde, regndåper på ruten og så fange det som var utenfor ruten. Ønsket var å få til bare litt av det hun her nå har fått til, jeg fikk det altså ikke til.... Ikke i nærheten engang. Men så er dette noe helt spesielt også da. Lykke til med ustillingen!
Ja, det er et ganske spesielt og fascinerende uttrykk! Blir veldig estetisk vakkert ved å bruke den teknikken hun gjør, som er gjennomtenkt, men samtidig uten full kontroll. Takk! :)

It's interesting that she still has workable analog cameras. Those are amazing work. Beautiful and artistic. Do you use analog too?
I agree with all of the above! I am myself digital, but sometimes I can miss the days working in the darkroom, it was a much more rewarding process. What about yourself?
I only use digital. I don't see a lot of analog and/or users here anymore what with the availability of smartphones and other means of capturing photos. Baguio City is a tourist place and I remember when I was a kid that there are photographers who make a living by taking pictures of strangers with pay of course. They just have to wait for a few minutes or can come back so they can get a processed copy of their photo. I only see 2 or 3 who still do that. We also have analog cameras but they are nonfunctioning now because it has been stored for long, long time.
Yes, it sure has changed since then! Digital photography sure is more convenient and fast, but I love that there are still some working on analog, it makes everything more authentic. :)
