Royal Palace in Godollo - HDR version

in #photography5 years ago

'Living in a castle is objectively romantic.'

Lev Grossman

Yeah, I know that I said last time that I would not flood the platform with HDR photos. That time I used a single shot with exaggerated editing, this time I was very moderate.

But what is an HDR photo? HDR stands for 'High Dynamic Range'. In this case, I took three shots with different exposure values (EV). The first image was taken with a normal EV. The second was underexposed (dark) by two stops (EV) and the third was overexposed (bright) by two stops. That way I could have all the details of the castle that the camera sensor could capture. In the underexposed photo I had the details of the very bright parts of the subject, in the overexposed image I had the details which were in shadow. And that is what the 'dynamic range' is about, capturing the brightest and darkest details.

I imported the photos into Lightroom and merged them as a new HDR file. A merge of three long exposure RAW files is a great source of details. :-) I created the final version with Photoshop using the HDR toning mode.

I hope you'll like it because I shot more! :-)

I like it. I like it very much. Maybe I don't have a good view on my phone but I would have played a little with removing the noise. I repeat, I might be wrong.
This is a good technique you described. I must try it. Thank you for the tip. 🙂

Thx! I think there's noise only in the sky. :-) Have a go, it's interesting!

Impressive castle and great shot, I also do quite a bit of HDR editing

Thank you! This is one of my first tries. I'm looking forward to seeing some HDR shots from you!

I mostly go for what to me is subtle HDR most of my recent posts are all HDR photos
