Wings for Life World Run 2017. Russia, Kolomna
May 7, 2017 in the Moscow region of Kolomna for the third time in a row was the annual international charity race Wings for Life World Run. Exactly at 14:00 Moscow time, this amazing race was started in which tens of thousands of runners in more than 20 countries simultaneously came to the start to contribute to the development of research on spinal cord injuries and to improve the lives of people around the world.
The unusual feature of this race is its format - instead of the finish line, a special car is used here which, 30 minutes after the start of the participants, starts moving after them and gradually increases the speed from 15 to 35 km / h. Whom the car-finish caught up with, it comes its finish. The winner in the race is the one who will run away from all the others from the start, ie. Who is the last to overtake the car-finish. And by the way. Everyone can take part in the race: both professional ultramarathons, amateur runners, and people in wheelchairs.

Thanks to Toyota Team Russia, I was in the thick of the Wings for Life World Run events in Kolomna.
02.
Here on this LC200 we came here.
03.
And this option LC200 I liked more - it is better protected from unwanted scratches in the yard and in parking lots at supermarkets :)
04.
Yes, they got branded T-shirts.
05.
Dmitry Berdasov decided to warm up a little - it was necessary to carry all day in his hands in a generally difficult photographic equipment. Do it once.
06.
Do two.
07.
Do three! In the hands of Dmitry 40 warm-up kg.

The Wings for Life World Run race has no finish line in its usual presentation. Each participant runs as much as his personal limit allows, until he is caught by the finish car or a catcher car. The car starts 30 minutes after the start of the race, gradually increasing the speed from 15 to 35 km / h. To fix the results of thousands of athletes, the car is equipped with an electronic timekeeping system. Achievements are recorded using individual beacons, which are activated when a competitor crosses the start line, and turns off when he is overtaken by a catcher car. The one whom Toyota Prius will overtake the last, will become the winner of the Russian race. In 2017 the catcher car in Kolomna was run by the most titled motor-freestyle rider of Russia Alexei Kolesnikov.

Winning in a race without limiting the maximum distance depends entirely on the athlete's ability to distribute energy. The Toyota Prius serves as an excellent example: combining the energy of a gasoline engine and an electric motor, the car spends a minimum of fuel to achieve maximum mileage. So, the fuel consumption of the Toyota Prius in the combined test cycle is 3 liters per 100 kilometers, and with the use of energy efficient driving techniques, Pulse & Glide is reduced to a record 2.1 liters per hundred.

Test start Teams Toyota Russia. Very soon around the world will be launched Wings for Life World Run, but for now, a little walk around the neighborhood.

Yes, the Kremlin in Kolomna is an amazing place: here the houses of local residents are on its territory. Imagine leaving this way out of the house, and you have just behind the fence an ancient tower and walls!

14:00. Start Wings for Life World Run. Individual beacons are activated!
15.
Then I was visited by one thought: you are running, you are ahead of the catcher car in some village, everything - you have a finish. And you're all tired and in sports form. What's next?
16.
But even here the organizers have foreseen everything. On the route of the participants are cars Toyota Rav4, who pick up those who left the race.

The Russian stage of the Wings for Life World Run confirmed the registration of 1525 people.

Exactly at 2.30 pm the ketch-car with a stand-in equipment (just in case) equipped with the electronic timekeeping system starts and goes "chasing" the participants of the race.
24.
Well. All fled and left. It now remains to wait who will run farthest from the catcher car?

While making this photo, I did not yet know that I managed to photograph the winners of the Russian stage of the Wings for Life World Run. On the left, at the photo number 32235 Konstantin Shishov from Kaluga, who won the Wings for Life World Run among men on the track in Kolomna. The catcher car overtook Constantine at around 70.4 km. To the right of Constantine, through one participant, participant number 71324 of Alexander Morozov, who became the winner of the Russian stage of the Wings for Life World Run among women. Alexandra showed a brilliant result - 57.6 kilometers.
