Sunset at Low Tide
Low tide at Newhaven Harbour empties out all the water from the harbour. If you missed the tide because you slept in, then as a fisherman you are pretty screwed for the day. Mind you I don't think any fishermen here would make such a rookie mistake, but I'm sure if they did they' never live it down with their fellow fishermen.

What a cool photo I dont think I have ever seen low tides do that in my time but your right if a fisherman missed the tide they ar snot only screwed but out of a days earnings and will also have the ridicule to deal with I wonder which is the worst LOL
lol! I think the ridicule might be the worst ;) There's quite a few areas like that here where the tide recedes really far. There's an island a half mile off the coast here that at low tide you can walk too.. but at high tide you will be trapped there.
I do believe you are right about the ridicule, We have an island off the coast here that at low tide you can walk out to on the sandbar, sadly some have timed it badly and drowned trying to walk back as the tide rises
That's harsh. We've had a few near misses similar to that here. Nature is amazing.. but unforgiving.
yes very harsh, and in part because people ignore all the warning signs of which there are many
