Old World Medicine
Back when you could buy some cocaine and heroin from your friendly, neighborhood pharmacy along with your rootbeer float, lipstick came in brass cases that looked like large caliber bullets.
This replica, 18th century pharmacy is in Highland Park, California. Here, quite a few original, California buildings from the same era sit. It’s a small, historical exhibit but it’s a lot of fun to look over the endless variations of medicines we still buy. Cough drops, antacid pills, hunger suppressants, et al.
I think we took a step back when the cool stuff was outlawed. Who wouldn’t want a fee ounces of heroin tincture in their medicine cabinet?
