Trip to France - Part 13 - Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, Monte-Carlo

Situated at the south end of the old city is Monaco's (world class) Oceanographic Museum. Depending where you are, you can arrive by a Monaco city bus, a Bateau Bus across the harbor, or simply climb up the long stairway to the Prince's palace, old city etc.

The Oceanographic Museum is at the south end overlooking the Mediterranean. This Museum was made famous by Jacques Cousteau and his sea explorations. The extensive aquariums are located on the bottom floor. Some huge sea creatures are well presented here (sharks). This will hold most of your interest and take most of your time. It is advised not to visit on a day of school excursions.

The upstairs floor has huge whale and various skeletons displayed. You'll find a restaurant/snack bar/washrooms on the roof, plus a kiddies playground and a turtle display. The museum opens at 10:00 am and evening hours change with the season.

Ticket price: Adults: 14 euros (no seniors rate), Teens: 13- 18 years 10 euros, Children: 4-12 years 7 euros.

Well worth a visit. The Museum is situated beside a beautiful park with various plants and artistic displays. The church where Princess Grace and Prince Ranier are interred is nearby.
