                      HISTORY

In its history, Spain has been conquered by many countries. In antiquity, the area was inhabited by Iberian and later Celtic people (the so-called Celtyberians). Then Spain was part of the Roman Empire. After the reign of the Romans, it was conquered by the Vandal tribes. Then it was invaded by Islamic peoples. Their expulsion was initiated by the first king of Asturias. Then Spain for several centuries fell under the Habsburg rule. During the Napoleonic wars it was an important part of the anti-French coalition. In the 1930s, it became a republic ruled by Francisco Franco. Since the fall of the regime, it has been a parliamentary monarchy.

DISHES AND BEVERAGES

Spanish food is one of the tourist attractions in the country. The Spaniards attach great importance to food. Each meal is celebrated, devoting a lot of time to its consumption. They eat large portions at rather late times. A typical Spaniard dinner starts around 22:00, and lunch between 14:00 and 17:00.

Due to the fact that Spain is a Mediterranean country, on the tables of Spaniards, fish and seafood (squid, octopus, shrimps) reign supreme, but they are also advocates of lamb and pork. In addition to traditional vegetables, they often choose legumes, ie peas, lentils, chickpeas. Olive oil in combination with garlic is used for spreading bread as an alternative to butter.

When you are in Spain, you must try tapas. This is a typical Spanish appetizer served cold or hot, taking a smaller version of the main dishes. Tapas are most often eaten at the bar while sipping wine or beer. The most popular tapas are: mushrooms with garlic, fried fish, Spanish omelette, olives with cheese, seafood, and also patatas bravas, which are nothing more than sliced, fried potatoes served in the presence of a spicy sauce. Tapas is a great way to try new dishes before ordering the official main course.

As a traditional main course you can eat paella and gazpacho. The name of the first dish comes from the pan with two handles - paella, on which the dish is prepared. The base of paella is rice with the addition of meat and vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers and beans. The saffron gives it a unique color. Today, according to the taste of the host, any combination of vegetables, meat, and seafood is added to the paella. Traditionally, paella is eaten straight from the pan. Whereas gazpacho is a soup, a cream in the form of a Polish cooler. Traditionally, it is prepared from tomatoes.depositphotos_77577672-stock-photo-spain-food-tapas-ham-sausage.jpg

Casa Milà (La Pedrera) - means the Mill House - this building in Barcelona was built in 1906-1910. It was designed and made by Antoni Gaudí for entrepreneur Pere Mili and his wife. This is the most mature and recent "secular" project of this architect. The Casa Milá, as Gaudí himself wanted, was to be a response to the lack of interesting buildings in the city. Due to the appearance (the building looks like a huge rock block), the Barcelonians call it La Pedrera, which means Quarry
