Ice sculptures of Russian fairy tales characters (original HDR photo)
My Congratulations on the coming Happy New Year to all Steemians!
Today I want to share with you photos of ice sculptures in the form of fairy-tale characters.
So beautifully decorated town square in my town for New Year holidays. These ice sculptures are in the territory, fenced by icy fence. Some photos from this area you can see in this post.
In the past few days the whole world is actively celebrated Christmas. But in Russia, very few people celebrate Catholic Christmas. Orthodox Christians in Russia celebrate the Orthodox Christmas. This holiday is celebrated on 7th of January. But virtually the entire population of the country are actively celebrating the new year. New Year is a holiday which is considered one of the most joyful and expected by all Russians.
May be you don't know some characters in my pictures, so I added a picture with this character and a small description to each ice sculpture pic.
All photos except the first made in HDR mode. LED strip is built in the bottom of all sculptures. Because of this, they all have such a bright light.
Fire Rooster is the symbol of 2017 on east calendar. In addition, the rooster is a character in many Russian fairy tales.
You can see a lot of coins sticked to the surface of the ice sculptures. Citizens believe that it should bring them good luck.

Baba Yaga is an old witch from Russian fairy tales. She lives in a hut on chicken legs and in contrast to the European witches which are flying on a broom, she is flying in a receptacle similar to a wooden barrel.

Hare is a character in many Russian fairy tales. It is believed that he loves carrots.

Little girl Masha is a character of Russian fairy tale. Masha lost in the forest and came to the house of the bear. Bear didn't let Masha to go home, and she had to live with him. But Masha tricked Bear to carry a box with patties to her parents house. Then Masha hid herself in this box. So clever girl escaped from captivity.
The picture shows Masha's head that sticks out of the box, hanging behind the bear.

Cheburashka is a toy character of the old Soviet cartoon. No one knows what species it belongs. And nobody knows his story. Even Cheburashka himself.
In a new life best friend of Cheburashka is a crocodile called Gena. These characters are very kind and always trying to do good things.
These characters are so pleased with the Japanese public that Japan bought a license for this cartoon in 2003.

In Russian fairy tales there are so many heroes, called bogatyr. Russian bogatyr is a very strong character who performs feats designed to protect the homeland and its people from their enemies and fantastic monsters.

There are many various references to fairy birds can be found in Russian fairy tales.
This bird looks like a falcon. One of the characters of Russian fairy tales is a bird, called Finest, the brave Falcon.
According to one legend God Veles turned to Finest, the brave Falcon. Veles is a god of wisdom, wealth, patron of the animal world.
