Travel photo archives: Dawson City

Dawson City (our first stop in Canada) is a gold rush town frozen in time. It was the centre of the Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon in the late 1800s. Walking the dusty streets you feel transported back to that era.

Even more so when you pop in for an old timey can can show at Diamond Tooth Gerties.

You start to remember what era you are really in when you see some of the tumble down buildings with modern cars outside.

Or wander the towns busy main street.

But it is a memorable and unique place to visit to enjoy a taste of the gold rush era, with none of the discomfort and hardship. (There's a very nice bakery and ice cream shop on that main street and two comfortable campgrounds in town, plus one just across the river)
