Today I did a short tour of the Venetian villas!! Discovering Italy with alequandro

Today, after days of incessant rain, the sun came out so I dropped everything I was doing and after lunch I decided to take a tour of the Venetian villas that are near where I live!

Oggi, dopo giorni di pioggia incessante, è uscito il sole così ho mollato tutto quello che stavo facendo e dopo pranzo ho deciso di fare un giro delle ville venete che ci sono vicino a dove abito!

As the first villa I went to see Villa Emo, designed by the architect Andrea Palladio, and like the other Palladio villas it is a UNESCO world heritage site!

Bad luck has it that the villa is under renovation and not even the exterior could be visited because all the space was reserved for a private party.

Come prima villa sono andavo a vedere Villa Emo, progettata dall'architetto Andrea Palladio e anche questa come le altre ville di Palladio è patrimonio mondiale dell'unesco!

Sfortuna vuole che la villa è in ristrutturazione e nemmeno l'esterno era visitabile perchè tutto lo spazio era riservato per un party privato.

Through the majestic gate I took some pictures of the driveway to the villa.

If you have seen the last post I made about Palladio's other villa, Villa Barbaro, you will notice the similarities in architectural language.

The tetrastyle pronaos with Ionic columns and capitals and the tympanum supported by the entablature.

Se avete visto l'ultimo post che ho fatto sull'altra villa del Palladio, villa Barbaro, noterete le similitudini nel linguaggio architettonico.

The view from inside the villa is incredible, unfortunately I could not enter to take pictures but from the outside it is easy to see the strength of the perspective axis of the tree-lined avenue that continues in front of the villa.

To make you grasp the perspective of the avenue on the opposite side with respect to the façade, I walked along a side street of stones where some rustic buildings overlooked the villa.

An inscription on a corten panel says that the tree-lined avenue was replanted in 2017 by Caroline Emo and the foundation of the villa.

On the internet I had read that not far away there are the remains of the barn of Queen Caterina Cornaro, who was Queen of Cyprus.

In internet avevo letto che poco distante ci sono i resti della barchessa della regina Caterina Cornaro, che fu regina di Cipro.

Secondo le testimonianzedel secolo scorso, in quel luogo si ergeva un maestoso palazzo degno di un re di Francia!

Ho anche letto che non si sa neppure se quel palazzo sia mai esistito e ne rimane un annesso che era adibito ad abitazione.

Unfortunately, when I arrived, I noticed that the building was abandoned and left abandoned.

Purtroppo quando sono arrivato ho constatato che l'edificio è in disuso e lasciato in abbandono.

Misura 118 metri di lunghezza ed era un edificio di servizio a un parco che conteneva una peschiera, un bosco e una torre fortezza circondata d'acqua, sentieri, prati e campi.

Non si poteva accedere, quindi sono dovuto andare via...spero che un giorno recuperino questo posto.
Ho letto che all'interno ci sono numerosi affreschi del 700 e altre testimonianze artistiche di pregio!

While driving the car I noticed a small votive chapel.
I stopped to photograph it.

Mentre guidavo la macchina ho notato una piccola cappella votiva.
Mi sono fermato a fotografarla.

An old man approaches and asks me if I want to see the inside.
I agree and he is very happy, so he enters a house nearby and leaves 2 minutes later with the keys in his hand.

Here I am in front of the villa.
This is not as famous as the villas of Andrea Palladio but it is a prestigious villa.
From the architectural point of view it does not have an interesting language like Palladio's style.
It is simpler, it has no porch and side barchesse.

Questa non è famosa come le ville di Andrea Palladio però è una villa di pregio.
Dal punto di vista architettonico non ha un linguaggio interessante come lo stile di Palladio.
E' più semplice, non ha il portico e le barchesse laterali.

The park of the villa is bordered on two sides by a ditch with running water.

The entrance is simple and elegant with citrus plants on the sides.

While I walk away from the villa, I think, it would be interesting to live in a villa like this ... but it is really big ... I would be forced to do parties every day otherwise I would feel alone in there !! :D

Mentre mi allontano dalla villa, penso, sarebbe interessante vivere in una villa così...però è davvero grande...sarei costretto a fare feste tutti i giorni sennò mi sentirei solo li dentro!! :D
