Today i will share second photoshoot of our ByUs amateur photo group. If you are interested in the background of it all you could check the first post by CLICKING HERE. Long story short, 2 years ago, a small group of acquaintances (now i can say friends), in a small town, with love for photography and not that much knowledge decided to learn more by hanging out and thinking about crazy ideas that could help them improve their skills.

From my beginning in photography i always loved long exposures and idea of long exposure and bursting flashes was interesting to us all. So we borrowed a flash with the option of burst mode, got the keys from the local theatre, got some wine (for inspiration), and started playing with small RGB LED lights? Well are your photoshoots always go as planned and without some fun distractions? :D I just got some small led lights so we just played a bit, with long exposures and light painting.

All the photos were taken with Canon 600D, and the photo above is 12 seconds long exposure. I am pretty happy by the sharpness of the face after 12 seconds of light painting.

After that the idea of painting with light took over, so here are some shoots from that.

i added the horns in post production (i think it is obvious :) ) because the silhouette reminded me of something. Do you know what it is, is it really, or it is just my imagination?

After all the goofing around we started goofing around but in the theme that was initially the idea of the shoot :)
As we had no idea how to do it, we started to do some test shoots. First thing was how wide to shoot and how to do it in the darkness. Obviously first one was a miss :D

So the idea is to pre focus, then switch to manual focus, decide how long the exposure needs to be. (photo below is 4 second long exposure). Next was to solve how much flashes in the one go should be, and what should be the power of the flash as to much power would end in flash not firing because of the charging time. This one had 7 flashes, i think 4 or 5 were the best.

As non of us is a professional in dancing, jumping or anything that would look cool we were just goofing around.

Then we started thinking could we do a 3 shot in one long exposure. It is really hard to synchronise in pitch black, it is hard even to find a chair when you are in black then full flash then black :D This was an 8 seconds exposure.
