Lake Winnebago Ice Bergs
It has been cold enough for ice to form on the lake. Yet, just enough warmer days and wind to prevent it from becoming solid.
This creates miniture ice shoves. Ice piles up depending on wind directions. Very pretty. Very impressive display of Mother Nature's creative powers.
And it isn't even officially winter.
Isn't that going to make it tough to go out and ice fish?
Well, depends. There are times you could chip fresh frozen fish right from the ice., like the gulls. Lol
But our friend was actually out on the ice yesterday and stated it is pretty smooth farther out. Just got to get farther out. Not from this launch you aren't.
I've seen this before traveling on the west coast of Michigan, it's always an amazing sight. It hasn't been anywhere near cold enough here for small lakes to even freeze over solid. I used to life at the Michigan state line in Indiana, I could always count on the first week of December the lake would start freezing over.
Beautiful pictures, by the way, but I think I'll stay a little further south myself though.
The whole idea of the lake freezing still awes me.
Glad you appreciated the view.
I grew up in Alabama where nothing larger than a mud puddle freezes, anytime I was standing on the ice in northern Indiana I was always thinking it was about to break through. Never got used to it.
