If MC Escher was a lightpainter....

in #photocircle4 years ago (edited)

A fantastic urbex / lightpainting shoot in an abandoned bomb store under Wales, this was shot with a device that allows the camera to be rotated on it's lens axis.

First of all I lined up the first part of the shot knowing that I wanted sparks to fall down the stairs and checked to see what the image would look like upside down. I then got a mate to keep the same pose while I ran up the stairs to spin steel wool sparks down the stairs. In between each rotation I replaced the lens cap without ending the exposure.

This image was created in one photographic exposure and is not a Photoshop creation. The camera used was a Sony A7 full frame camera with a Sony Zeiss 16-35mm lens. The camera settings were f8, ISO200 and around 3 minutes.

About me: I specialise in shooting lightpainting images all in one photographic exposure which involves different elements with different lenses and tripods.

Flawless work with the lines in that rotation. Love how the sparks transition from one to the other angle. Super cool.

Thanks pal, the idea that sparks are falling upwards appeals to me!
