in #photo4 years ago

Baiturrahman is a mosque located in Banda Aceh, with a long history. The origin of the mosque was built by Sultan Iskandar Muda in 1612. But the mosque was later burned down during the Dutch aggression in April 1873.

In December 2004, the mosque was once again hit by the tsunami disaster. At that time, a tsunami which struck nearly two meters high, pooled into the room in the mosque. Many residents of the city of Banda Aceh who took refuge in the magnificent mosque.

After the tsunami receded, the mosque was still standing strong, while the surrounding buildings had been destroyed without being left. In this case there are those who think the Baiturrahman mosque is still standing strong because of its quality building architecture, but there are also those who think this mosque is a place of worship.
