Do we like cats?

In order to find out how important it is for cats to communicate with people, scientists from Oregon State University have asked 50 of these pets to take part in the experiment. Some of the experimental cats had owners, another part lived in shelters. According to the experimental conditions, animals were given a choice: to interact with food, a pleasant smell, toys, or still a person.

In total, the study showed that cats most often preferred to communicate with people - this option was chosen by 50% of the participants in the experiment. The second place was food, but the toys and smells became outsiders. This gave scientists a reason to conclude that communication with people is still of great importance for cats.
