LET THEM TALK...

There is a time when you absolutely must be silent, and there is a time when you certainly must speak up.
Most people are afraid to speak up during the critical moments. They suffer from something called glossophobia. People are afraid that if they speak up and say the things that need to be said, others might be offended. They know something needs to be said, but sometimes they don't know what to say or how to say it, and so they refuse to speak.

They're afraid that others will see them as being foolish for not saying the right thing, or for not saying it the right way. They hate to ask questions, no matter how important that question might be, because they don't want anyone to consider them ignorant to not already have the answer.

But they do a lot of talking behind a person's back. They gossip, spread false rumors, and spent too much time worrying about the petty things. When they should stand up, speak up, and speak out publicly about the important things, they say nothing. Instead, they just speak to someone in private about the trivial things.

They gather in a corner somewhere with a bunch of snakes and have a mindless discussion about what some other person wore, or who someone is dating, or they entertain whatever lie that is being told. Not only do people refuse to speak when the time is right, but they'd look at you like you're insane for saying what needs to be said.

They'll agree with what you are saying, because you're expressing what they also feel, and they appreciate you for saying what they wish they had the courage to say. But nonetheless, they will criticize you behind your back for speaking out, and then you become the latest victim to whatever vicious rumor that is being spread. They speak badly about you and do whatever it takes to destroy you, to remind themselves of the price people must pay for speaking out.
You are spot on here, @janrotas. I find it incredibly painful to see how quick others are too tear down or disparage the few with little power or platform, yet who are courageous enough to speak truth in a world where it is so desperately needed. Yet, at the same time, they give the benefit of the doubt over and over to those with all the power, yet who have lied to us repeatedly, be they in government, the media, or corporations.
Truly it feels at times like we are living in topsy-turvy land.
this is the world we live in, we have to go along way to make them realize how bad their judgment affects innocent people, its never easy but we just have to keep trying
