Hello Steemians all over the world! It's me again @mignacio who wanted to share Filipino facts.
Fact #1:
Did you know that we Filipinos are born to be courteous. You read it right! In Tagalog, Pinanganak kaming magalang. 😁
Filipinos who are using Tagalog as their main dialect are using "po and opo" when talking to a person older than them or a person with a high profile than them. It's a sign of respect. Their parents are teaching their child at the early age in saying po and opo whenever they speak. But as far as I know, this is only for Filipinos using or who was born learning Tagalog as their main dialect because we have a lot of dialects here in PH.
Another sign that we are born to be courteous is "Pagmamano". It's a way where a person will grab the right hand of a person and put the back of his/her palm into the forehead. Did you catch what I'm telling? If not, just see the photo below:
It's also a sign of respect to the old person. Usually, this is being done when a person meets his/her parents, grand parents, aunties, uncles or the parents of their friends. We also do this whenever we are leaving the place.
Nowadays, we are also doing a kiss on a cheek as a sign of respect to our parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, parents of our friends and also to our friends whenever we meet them or we are leaving. It's a tradition from other countries where we inherit here in PH.
