I photographed Gladiolus italicus Mill., commonly known as Common Sword Lily, which is a tuber geophyte that grows in Mediterranean woodlands, shrublands, grasslands and in disturbed habitats (roadsides and cultivated fields), usually on limestones.

It is native in: Albania; Cyprus; Egypt; France; Greece; Iran, Islamic Republic of; Iraq; Italy; Kuwait; Lebanon; Macedonia, the former Yugoslav Republic of; Malta; Morocco; Oman; Portugal; Saudi Arabia; Spain; Syrian Arab Republic; Tunisia and Turkey _[source].
