It hurts
Ever fall and scrape your knee?
And then a few weeks later it's scabbed over and itches like crazy?
You know the feeling - you want it to fall off, but it's not ready. Can you resist scratching it? Have you ever made it bleed all over again because you couldn't just leave it alone?
Well, I'm that way.
It's kind of like having a tooth pulled and then not being able to keep your tongue out of the hole!
Well, here's the point.
You have to understand yourself and who you are.
Am I a person of extreme scab-ignoring discipline? No.
Would it be wise of me to live my life as if I had the total self-control required to not stick my tongue in that gaping emptiness? Probably not.
So, instead I've learned to recognize and embrace my own shortcomings.
And this is the piece of advice I want to share with you today.
In business, it's not just playing to your strengths that counts, but it's equally important to clearly see your own vulnerabilities.
And don't just do this within the privacy of your own mind.
No, you need to be able to express your weaknesses and own up to them with others.
This can be painful, but also exhilarating and liberating.
You see, by being forthright and honest about your soft spots, those around you will often reciprocate.
And that's when you begin to learn how to play to each person's strengths!
So, even though it hurts, try it out and be brave!
You'll soon reap the benefits.
