There Will Be Celebration and Mourning In Panama Today.

General Manuel Noriega has passed away. If You read the CNN article you would think that he was the worst person ever to live. Sure, he did some horrible things but nothing different than any other U.S. puppet dictator over the last century.

The Secrets that Die With Him.

If only he would have let us know the secrets buried in that brain. People here say he was threatened to never speak about his connections to a certain U.S. organization and former president. The threats were supposedly against his family. If he ever spoke they could be in danger.

So ever since Noriega returned to Panama a few years ago he has been kept in a prison in Gamboa. He was supposed to go in for removal of a benign brain tumor but did not survive the operation. His secrets will die with him.

Why Was He Not Released to His Home?

Here in Panama there is a law that allows prisoners over 70 to live out their sentence under house arrest. For some unknown reason Noriega was not granted this right as a Panamanian citizen. It saddens me when we throw out the books and treat humans different.

Time for Panama to Move Past the Illegal Invasion.

The invasion was beyond brutal. Whole neighborhoods were leveled as you can see below. To this day many family members have still not been accounted for. What the world press reported was no where near what really happened in this tiny country. As horrible as it was it is time to move on.

Now that is has been almost 30 years since the USA invaded this country illegally. Maybe it is time for Panama to move out of the shadow and embrace the positive aspects of life here. We live in paradise. We have a strong economy. We have freedoms that countries all over the world could only wish for. On top of all that we have no military oppressing the people like you see in so many countries in the region.

That is the legacy of Noriega. The people realized the military can't be trusted and have decided to not have a standing Army.

Most people painfully are unaware of who the man was or what he did in this day and age. A lot of things from the 20th century are slowly being forgotten, which is sad considering there is an awful lot to learn from history (even if it's written mainly by the victors).

But I don't know what I did with my comment :D I did edit, fuck it I won't dig into it. Fuck this even the revision app doesn't know what is going on :D

(sniff)

Thank you for bring forth this news on Noriega @hilarski
I met a gentleman in 2006, downtown Panama City. His wife died and his home was severely damaged during the short and intense attack. As more info is released about Noriega and the invasion, I will expose more details of my friends' revealing story.

That's a very strong pic of invasion. But, I am sure people of Panama will embrace the positive aspects of life. And may Manuel Noriega's soul rest in peace.

Interesting, I have never heard about any of this.

I didn't even know that guy was still alive...well not anymore.

It's hard to keep up with all of the illegal invasions. Funny how some Central/South American economies recovered after the US backed dictators were ousted. With Saddam gone and now Noriega, I guess it's time for a new batch of US backed dictators to spring up. Any guesses where? Afghanistan and Ukraine are already taken.

I'm laughing but it's not funny, monopoly chess :D we give you the pieces so you can play, but the pieces are ours so we won't loose, because we can do whatever we want with our pieces :D

Not only that, Noriega and Saddam were both products of the "intelligence" community. Our government built them up, before they became "bad" dictators.

Many of the Noriega #Panama/ CIA secrets are in this book I was given to read . Divorcing the Dictator.

That would be some juicy info.
