A fantastic trip to Castello Tesino in Trentino Alto Adige - Discovering Italy with alequandro

Hi everyone, a few days ago I was in a beautiful place in northern Italy, in Trentino alto Adige.
I was in Castello Tesino a small town of 1200 inhabitants at 850 meters above sea level.

Ciao a tutti, qualche giorno fa sono stato in un bellissimo posto nel nord Italia, in Trentino alto Adige.
Sono stato a Castello Tesino una piccola cittadina di 1200 abitandi a 850 metri sul livello del mare.

This place is only 1 hour drive from where I live, I think I will come back more often to visit those fantastic places!

Every time I visit the province of Trentino Alto Adige I am impressed by the cleanliness of the streets, the well-kept parks and the urban street furniture in wood and perfectly inserted into the landscape.

As soon as I arrived in Castello Tesino I was able to enjoy the view of the valley that hosts a naturalistic educational workshop.

Questo posto dista a solo 1 ora di macchina da dove vivo, credo tornerò più spesso a visitare quei luoghi fantastici!

Ogni volta che visito la provincia del Trentino Alto Adige rimango impressionato dalla pulizia delle strade, dai parchi curatissimi e dall'arredo urbano in legno e perfettamente inserito nel paesaggio.

Appena arrivato a Castello Tesino ho potuto godere della vista sulla valle che ospita un laboratorio didattico naturalistico.

Almost all the houses have geraniums filled with colorful flowers on the balcony.

Along the road there was also a votive chapel with a low relief in majolica, it is the first time I see one made this way.

Quasi tutte le case hanno sul balcone vasi di gerani colmi di fiori coloratissimi.

Lungo la strada c'era anche una cappella votiva con un basso rilievo in maiolica, è la prima volta che ne vedo una realizzata in questo modo.

Going up a steep climb in porphyry stones you can see a recently restored church that stands out over the square.

Salendo una ripida salita in pietre di porfido si riesce a vedere una chiesa recentemente ristrutturata che svetta sulla piazza.

Around the square there are tourist bars and restaurants.
Intrigued by an alley nearby, I notice a church placed between two houses and I decide to enter to visit it.

Attorno alla piazza ci sono bar e ristoranti turistici.
Incuriosito da un vicolo lì vicino, mi accorgo di una chiesa posta fra due case e decido di entrare a visitarla.

It is the church of the Torricella built in 1602.
It is very simple, with a single nave and an altar wood rich in decorations and marquetry.

E' la chiesa della Torricella edificata nel 1602.
E' molto semplice, ad un'unica navata e un altare il legno ricco di decorazioni e intarsiature.

The title of this church is given to him by an image of the Madonna frescoed on a wall.
This holy image is said to be miraculous and attracted people from all over the world, people came to ask for help from the Veneto region.

Like many other Tesino castle buildings, in 1916 it was hit by the ruinous bombardment and fell almost completely destroyed.
Rebuilt, fell into semi-abandonment and only in the mid-70s began the restoration of structures and furnishings.

The miraculous fresco, saved from the bombardments, was detached and attached to a panel, today it is preserved inside the church itself, a curious fact that bears the date of 1521 and that is 82 years before the erection of the religious structure.
This suggests that there already existed a building that was later remodeled and transformed into a church".

"Il titolo di questa chiesa gli viene dato da un immagine della madonna affrescata su di una parete.
Questa santa immagine si dice fosse miracolosa e attraeva gente da ogni dove, arrivavano persone a chiedere grazie sin dal Veneto.

Come molti altri edifici di castello tesino, nel 1916 venne colpita dal rovinoso bombardamento e cadde quasi completamente distrutta.
Ricostruita, cadde in semi abbandono e solo a metà anni '70 si iniziò un opera di restauro di strutture e arredi.

L'affresco miracoloso, salvatosi dai bombardamenti, venne staccato e attaccato ad un pannello, oggi è conservato all'interno della chiesa stessa, fatto curioso che riporti la data del 1521 e cioè di 82 anni prima dell'erezione della struttura religiosa.
Questo fa pensare che ivi esistesse già un edificio che poi venne rimaneggiato e trasformato in chiesa".

Succesivamente, ho deciso di tornare verso il centro e visitare la chiesa di San Giorgio...

I climbed a staircase at the side of the church and walked in front of it to admire the square from above.

Ho salito una scalinata posta a lato della chiesa e sono ho camminato di fronte ad essa per ammirare la piazza dall'alto.

Entering the church I was really surprised by the decorations and frescoes.
The interior had also been recently renovated.

Entrando in chiesa sono rimasto davvero sorpreso dalle decorazioni e affreschi.
Anche l'interno era stato ristrutturato di recente.

The church already existed in the 12th century. Over the centuries it has had several reconstruction interventions.

I was struck by the Gothic style that I enjoyed in my travels in France but in this case the ceiling is low.
Very strange to see, I'm used to a Gothic style with almost dizzying heights.

La chiesa già esisteva nel XII secolo. Nel corso dei secoli ha avuto diversi interventi di ricostruzione.

Mi hanno colpito lo stile gotico che ho apprezzato molto ne miei viaggi in Francia però in questo caso il soffitto è basso.
Molto strano da vedere, sono abituato ad uno stile gotico con altezze quasi vertiginose.

The altar is white and red marble, and in the center you can see the statue of San Giorgio that kills the dragon.

L'altare è in marmo bianco e rosso e al centro si può notare la statua di San giorgio che uccide il drago.

Turning towards the large wooden entrance portal I could appreciate the cross vaults with visible ribs.

Voltadomi verso il grande portale d'ingresso di legno ho potuto apprezzare le volte a crociera con nervature a vista.

There were many things to see so I left the church and decided to take a photo of the staircase again...

Le cose da vedere erano molte così sono uscito dalla chiesa e ho deciso di scattare ancora una foto alla scalinata...

Next to the church there was a very simple but interesting side door, above it was a tympanum with a frescoed interior and to the left of it the remains of another fresco.
A stairway served as a base and made all the composition pleasant.

A fianco della chiesa c'era una porta laterale molto semplice ma interessante, sopra c'era un timpano con l'interno affrescato e alla sinistra di esso i resti di un'altro affresco.
Una scalinata faceva da basamento e rendava tutta la composizione gradevole.

After a quick visit to the town we decided to visit a park that was only 5 minutes away by car.

Dopo una veloce visita alla cittadina abbiamo deciso di visitare un parco che distava a solo 5 minuti di auto.

I had discovered this place seeing some internet photos, but I didn't think it was that good!

The photos were ugly and you couldn't even see the lawn!

Avevo scoperto questo posto vedendo alcune foto internet, ma non credevo fosse così bello!

Le foto erano brutte e non si vedeva nemmeno il prato!

This place is called Parco La Cascatella (park the waterfall) and in fact approaching the rocks you could see the water going down from the top and falling on a small pond.
A hidden paradise!

Questo posto si chiama Parco La Cascatella (parco la cascatella) e infatti avvicinandomi alle roccie si vedeva l'acqua scendere dall'alto e cadere su un piccolo laghetto.
Un paradiso nascosto!

The sound of water falling from above.
The light that came from behind the mountain and in front of a vast meadow ... how nice!

Il rumore dell'acqua che cadeva dall'alto.
La luce che sbucava da dietro la montagna e davanti un prato vastissimo...che bello!

We wanted to stay there all afternoon but we were intrigued by a path that started right nearby, so we started walking.

Avremmo voluo stare lì tutto il pomeriggio ma eravamo incuriositi da un sentiero che iniziava proprio lì vicino, così ci siamo incamminati.

The path was all flat and it was great to walk among the fir trees and the lawn to our left.
The sunset time was near and the light was getting beautiful.

Il sentiero era tutto in piano ed era bellissimo camminare tra gli abeti e il prato alla nostra sinistra.
L'ora del tramonto era vicina e la luce stava diventando bellissima.

The path has become narrow between the spontaneous shrubs...

Il sentiero si è fatto stretto tra gli arbusti spontanei...

Then again the landscape opened up before us. We were in the middle of a spontaneous meadow surrounded by mountains.

Only the sound of wind, insects and birds.

Poi di nuovo il paesaggio si è apertro dinanzi a noi. Eravamo nel mezzo di un prato spontaneo circondati dalle montagne.

Solo il suono del vento, degli insetti e degli uccelli.

At one point I was stunned by a sign that said we were walking along an ancient Roman road!

Ad un certo punto sono rimasto sbalordito davanti ad un cartello che diceva che stavamo camminando lungo un'antica strada romana!

The path continued into another denser and more spontaneous forest.

I wondered how it would have been to see thousands of soldiers passing along the Roman road centuries ago.

Il sentiero proseguiva in un'altro bosco più fitto e spontaneo.

Mi sono chiesto come sarebbe stato vedere passare migliaia di soldati lungo la via romana secoli fa.

There were cilamino flowers and red berries, they looked like currants but probably they were toxic fruits.

C'erano fiori di cilamino e bacche rosse, sembravano ribes ma probabilmente erano frutti tossici.

We took a path in the middle of the woods attracted by land that was covered by a road of super soft moss.
Beautiful walking on soft moss, every step was amortized, a good feeling.

Abbiamo preso un sentiero in mezzo al bosco attirati da terreno che era ricoperto da uno strado di muschio super soffice.
Bellissimo camminare sul morbido muschio, ogni passo era ammortizzato, una bella sensazione.

I tried to elaborate a photo with the colors and the light that was there at that moment and I must say that I am satisfied with the result!

While walking I tried to see if I saw edible mushrooms but unfortunately I found little.

Mentre camminavo cercavo di vedere se notavo funghi commestibili però purtroppo ho trovato poco.

It was a long time since I had seen such a beautiful forest, I would have been there again but we had to go back...

Era da molto tempo che non vedevo un bosco così bello, sarei stato lì ancora ma dovevamo tornare indietro...

Next week I hope to have time to explore some other place.
I think I will go to Trentino Alto Adige because every time I go there I discover magical places and spending time makes me feel good.
