Aww, such elegance and beauty! ^.^ OMG, reminds me so much of the characters from Jane Austin's books! Amazing, @scrawly!
Well done! <3 Excellent composition, pose and color palette! <3 ^.^

PS: I'm also very happy that you picked that name Amaryllis, it has a special meaning that dates back from the Greeks. They pronounced the flowers Amarullis which means “splendor” or “sparkling”. The Romans then borrowed the Greek word and turned into the Latin Amaryllis. After that was rediscovered through the Victorian era. For the Victorian gentlemen, an amaryllis means a strong, self-confident and very beautiful woman. ;)

I'm really sorry if I've over-explained. ^^' I love researching the meaning of the flowers, because I also borrowed that name for one of my characters. ;)

Whoa your very thorough explanation is awesome! Do not apologise, I really like reading about your great knowledge about flowers and words and their history.

And a name of your character? I wanna see this beauty ^^.

Thank you again, katalina <3.

You're very welcome, @scrawly! ^.^ Your artwork can be very inspiring, so the credit goes to you. ;)
I'm more like a bookworm, haha. XD But it's the way I am - always prefer to do some research before commenting on something. ;)

Her name is also Amaryllis, but she's not entirely human. ^.^

Thank you, spody, I'm glad you like!

So ArtDeco :) Beautiful and peaceful work @scrawly.

Thank you, Dunja. It's a high praise coming from someone so adept at watercolour :).

Love it, Thanks for sharing your artwork! It is a beautiful animation that also put together at the end.

I'm glad you enjoy my art and the animation. Thank you, bengy ^_^.

Ah, haha yeah I tend to not be able to get plants to grow, either. Despite that, I can get sunflowers to grow, so you should definitely look into this belladona plant! You might be able to get it to work :D

But what kind of belladona is poisonous?? :0 I'm unfamiliar with it.

You have sunflowers in your garden? Whoa! Are they easy to grow? I might buy some seeds in spring time, and try and probably fail again... It's really hard to do for me. I can't tell what the plants need at all @_@.

There are only two types of belladonna, the one I drew and the other one is called atropa belladonna, also known as deadly nightshade. Both its leaves and berries are extremely poisonous :o.

Yeah! Well I mean the ones we're growing now have barely come up yet, but when I was a kid, I was able to grow a whole bunch of them!

You basically just plant them, give them access to sunlight, and water them once a day, they're super low maintenance lol. If you're worried about it, you could always buy potting soil and some of those decomposing starter pot things, let them grow inside until they've sprouted some, and then transplant them outside afterwards lol.

OH, don't water them at noon though (unless you have them inside), it's better to water plants in the morning or evening because if you water them at the hottest time of day, it's like the heat boils the water or something and they can die D:

Also, if you start them indoors, you're gonna want to make sure they can drain their water. It's why pots have a hole in the bottom, you set the pot on this plate looking thing to catch the water, but if it's not able to drain, the plant can get root rot.

But oh, dang :o I'd heard of nightshade (like by name only, I've never seen it lol), but didn't know it was called belladonna haha
That's pretty cool :D

I'm also like you, I know nightshade but I didn't know until recently that it was a species of belladonna :o.

These are all good advice that I will remember when I grow another plant. So many things I didn't know before ^^.
Thank you, I have learnt a lot just from your one post :D.

She is lovely and blue and orange are my favourite!

Awww yes!!! Blue and orange, also green and yellow... these are my jams :D.

Thank you Donna.

I like the neo-classical look. And I am dreaming about starting a flower painting.

These are lovely, I've been curious about painting digitally...may try at some point and your works inspire me one step closer.

Definitely you should try your hands at them. The first few times might feel difficult because of unfamiliarity, but after you get to know the tools, drawing digitally is much more forgiving than with real media. It can be a nice little distraction when you're tired from cutting and carving.

Thank you :).

I thought digital painting and drawing might be a good option while traveling too! thx for the encouragement

Oh, you are right! I don’t have the equipment to draw digitally when I’m on the road though, I think maybe lugging the stuff around can be quite messy/heavy? But I definitely want to try it myself :D.

I thought maybe I could find a program to use on an ipad .... I've seen what David Hockney does on it and am quite impressed! I don't expect to reach his level but it shows me what the potential is with a small device.
