STEEMIT Open Mic Semana 91 || Syncopation de F. Kreisler

in #openmic6 years ago (edited)

¡Hello STEEMit!

Today it's a really special day for me because i´ll be playing again to a new audience (YOU), and that gives me such good feeling, because I wanted to do this for so long, and finally i`m doing it.

I spent a lot of time looking for a piece to play, trying to please you but also myself. So i find this piece in this searching journey and I believe you would like it as much as I do.

Friedrich “Fritz” Kreisler is the composer of Syncopation (the piece I’ll play for you) as many other compositions who bless the violin repertoire. So I also want to share with you some things before you watch me perform.

Friedrich “Fritz” Kreisler was an Austrian-born American exceptional violinist and composer, known as one of the best violinist in the world in the first decade of the Twentieth century. A fun fact is that, although he was one of the greatest of all times (and that’s my personal appreciation), he RARELY practiced, so you can imagine his talent. I can´t even give myself the opportunity to stop practicing without lose all of my (not so much) abilities.

His talent for music manifested itself when he was 4 years old, noted for his father who became his first teacher and at the age of 6, get accepted as a pupil of Jakob Dont. Maybe that doesn’t impress you, but for a violinist like me who learn how to play violin doing exercises with the DONT method, that’s quite shocking.

Back to history class (joke), at the age of 7 he entered to the Vienna Conservatory and made his debut there when he was 9. Then continue to study not only in Vienna but Paris conservatory as well, learning composition and violin. He started touring in the US in the 1880-90 with a pianist, but it wasn’t much successful. So he went back to Europe, left music and started to study Medicine in Vienna and Art in Rome and Paris as well. Then he served as an officer in the Austrian Army during 1895-1896. So you might be asking, when does him manage to have a successful career?

Well... Maybe you didn’t ask yourself that but I shall reply.

He appeared as a soloist with the Vienna philharmonic in 1898, and then with the Berlin philharmonic in 1899 and somehow his career just took off.

BUT I think that was enough of biographical talking for today, specially for not classical musicians here, but we can already feel inspired by Kreisler even if you aren’t a musician. It’s a history of a man whose talent was extraordinary BUT decided not to quit. Imagine how inspire you would be when you listen to his music.

And speaking of his music, I brought to you this piece called Syncopation; I think he named it like that because of the rhythm. For all of you who don’t know what syncopation is basically is when there's an interruption of the regular flow of rhythm. For example if you have a 4/4 piece, normally the stressed notes will be the first and the third, but a syncopated song would emphasize the second and fourth note. Syncopation can also occur when a note is between two beats.

And there you have it, a short music theory class ¡wohooo!

I think the only one who will laughs at my jokes would be me lol.

Anyways, I’m really pleased to play to you this piece, because I truly enjoy practicing it because I think is one of those pieces where you can experience joy, grace and just have fun while listening or playing it. I’m really sorry I didn’t manage to play it with a piano but I run out of budget for that now, however I plan to do some recordings with pianist anytime soon.

Hope you like it and thank you so much for watching.

BLOOPERS

As I was playing the last note of the piece on pizzicato, I accidentally get my bow touch the chandelier and it made a G sound, and it was so funny to hear it because the piece was wrote on G major. Good pitch chandelier has! lol.
Comment me if you noticed or if you just have to re watch it to catch it.

¡Hola STEEMit!
